Many people who have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) undergo therapy, as well as take medication to help them get through the day. However, over the past months, there has been a shortage of ADHD medications in the United States. With little clarity regarding the reasoning behind this shortage, I wished to investigate the issue and get an inside look into how the shortage is affecting people.
Working on this story gave me a lot of knowledge about the world of ADHD.

In developing this story, I learned that the issue was more complicated than ever. Manufacturing delays, increased demand, FDA limitations, and ingredient shortages may have contributed to the crisis. But most importantly -- people are suffering as a result. In 2023, it seems this is only the beginning, with record shortages of all types of drugs worldwide. As Caroline says in the end, the future is unknown… and that’s scary.
